In Genesis 3, when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, God, on His routine evening walks with man, was interrupted by separation. Sin separates. It didn’t separate God from Adam, because God still showed up looking for Adam, even after Adam had sinned against Him. It separated Adam from God. God, expecting Adam to show up in his normal and usual jolly ol’ self, was now hiding from Him. And God’s question to Adam was, “Where are you?” As if God didn’t know. Sin hides us from God because of guilt, and then puts us in a place that we don’t even know where we are or how we got there. And guilt, without repentance, will immediately turn to blame. Then in return, blame becomes a victim.
Jesus came and redeemed us from the guilt of our sins so we can once again walk with our Father God. He took our blame. He became the victim of our sins. Then, with His dying breath, the veil was torn. He immediately reactivated the access code to God that Adam once gave up! Jesus took us from, “Where are you?” to, “Oh, here I am!“ Now we can have that renewed Adam-stroll with God, once more.
There’s a scene in the movie, The Last of the Mohicans, where the character, Hawkeye, says to Cora as they’re about to be captured by the Indians, “You be strong, you survive… You stay alive, no matter what occurs! I will find you. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you!”
And as I’m watching this scene, I’m reminded of another time this was said. It was said to Adam, in Genesis 3, after his fall. God said to Adam, in essence, “Stay alive; It’s not going to be as easy as it was, but stay alive. I’ve got Someone in the shadows that will come for you. He will come to bruise and tread underfoot Satan’s head. He will be coming for you. Just stay alive. He will find you.” This is later confirmed in Hebrews 13:5.
“…I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”
From God’s promise to you in Genesis, all the way to Jesus fulfilling that promise in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and then Hebrews 13:5 reminding you of it, you can pretty much be at peace that regardless of what mess Satan has tried to make out of your life, Jesus is still pursuing and holding on to you. He said, REGARDLESS, I’m not just coming for you, but I’ve never left you or forsaken you in the process. As the old saying goes, “If you feel far from God, guess who moved?”
At GO Ministries International, we have made this our battle cry. You may have noticed the banner on our website with this simple statement, “Hold on Generation, we’re coming for you! You are lovable, valuable, capable and redeemable!” This is the passion that drives us daily! To see this young generation captivated by the Man who FIRST called out, “I’m coming for you!”
So next time you’re in the midnight hour of desperation, just remember God’s heart cry: “I will not, I will not, I will not (once from each member of the Godhead) leave you helpless nor forsake you, nor let you down (relax My hold on you)! Assuredly not!” “Stay strong. Stay alive! I’m coming for you and I will find you!”
So, how about it?! Can we take a walk now? And this time, we won’t hide, because God never has. You are lovable, valuable, capable and redeemable!
