“Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
– John 17:3 (NIV)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
– John 3:16 (NIV)
When we read these scriptures we commonly think of Heaven, and life after death. Heaven seems like this far off place in the clouds with no sickness or sorrow. It’s perfect! Well, that’s pretty close to the truth, but not completely.
Jesus prayed to the Father that His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. (Luke 11:2) He made sure He didn’t do or say anything without first hearing from His heavenly Father. By doing this, Jesus spent His whole life living Heaven on Earth. He healed the sick, because there is no sickness in Heaven. He cast out demons, because there isn’t darkness in Heaven. He multiplied food and blessed people with riches, because Heaven is full of riches beyond imagination. Lack doesn’t exist there. He never sinned, because there is no room for sin in Heaven. Every move He made, every word He said, was directly from Heaven, everyday.
Jesus came to give us eternal life, and to show us how to live just as the Father does in Heaven! “But wait a minute, He’s Jesus,” some may say. “There is no way we can be like Jesus. He’s perfect, right?” Oh yes, He really is. And in 1 John 4:17, it says “Just as He is, so are we in this world.” IN THIS WORLD! Jesus died on the cross, took our sins, sickness, and poverty, so that we can live like Him everyday! John 14:12 says that by faith in Him, we can do what He did, and even greater. Heaven is in our DNA, even here on Earth.
So the question is, “How do we live Heaven on Earth?” Well, lets look at Jesus! Before He did anything, He asked the Father. He would go away for hours to pray when making some decisions. He constantly was in communication with the Father, always growing in His relationship with God. It’s that easy! Jesus said in John 17:3 that eternal life is knowing the Father. This isn’t just knowing about God, but knowing who He is, knowing His heart, and His love. When we are looking to the Father constantly, and following His ways, then we can live that supernatural life—life in Heaven—here and now, all day, everyday![hr style=”2″ margin=”30px 0px 30px 0px”]
I charge you today to seek the Lord for His will for your life, and seek Him how to live Heaven today. Remember that Heaven has no room for sickness or sorrow. If there is any area in your life that doesn’t match the standard of Heaven, look in the Word, and change your world to fit the Word. And if you feel like any of that is starting to creep up on you or someone you know, look to Jesus and your heavenly Father, speak the Word, and know that it’s not God’s will![hr style=”2″ margin=”30px 0px 30px 0px”]
“Father, I come to You right now and I consecrate myself. I will live nothing less than the standard of Heaven. I want to live only Your standard, not my own. Show me how to live Heaven here on Earth, and how to bring others into that light. I rebuke any sickness that may be trying to come on me, in Jesus’ name. I thank You that my joy comes from You. Thank you, Father, for giving Jesus so that I may have an eternal, everlasting relationship with You. I pray this in Jesus’ name! amen, so be it!”
