He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?
– Romans 8:32 (NIV)
On a normal day people don’t regularly give things away without purpose. People give things as gifts, sometimes just to bless people, or sometimes people give because they want something in return. People don’t often give away things that mean a lot to them, and it is definitely unheard of for someone to give their only child’s life to save someone else’s life. It would have to be some crazy act of love to do something like that…
Well, I know of someone who did just that, and actually, it was for your life. God gave His only Son, Jesus, to come to this world and to take on all of the sin and disease and death for the entire world (quite a burden to carry)—more weight than we could ever comprehend. God did that, and Jesus did that, out of love. This love is the purest, most real love that ever has and ever will exist. This is the love that was given to you, and costs you nothing except that you believe in it.
Jesus not only gave His life for you, but everything that His Father gave to Him, He also gave to you to replace all of the sin and death in our lives. Jesus is everything that we have previously learned—love, joy, satisfaction, victory, and comfort. All that He is, He gave to us.
Romans 8: 32 says “…will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” Jesus was the gift of all gifts! And God gave Him freely and readily. If that’s so, which it is, why wouldn’t He freely and readily give us everything else?
Jesus is just like His Father, a giver of both material things and spiritual things. He continues to do that for us today and He will not stop. In John 5:19 Jesus says, “…he [Jesus] can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” God gives us graciously all things, and if Jesus only does what He sees the Father do, then my friend, Jesus gives us graciously all things.

True giving, the giving of Jesus and our Father, comes from love. This is agape love, the God kind of love. A love that is truer than anything we know.
“By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.” -1 John 4:17 NASB
We are called to carry on the work of Jesus on this Earth, and our number one job is to love. Giving is the expression of love! I challenge you today to purpose to be a giver. See areas of need or even things that people may enjoy and bless them. Take this task into your hands as if it were your only job, and bless someone by giving out of true, agape love.

“Father, I thank you for being the example of a giver. You are love, and You give out of love, and for this, I am forever grateful. Thank You for giving me Jesus, though I didn’t deserve the new life that He has given me. Dear Jesus, I thank You for giving Your life and for continuing to give all of You. I confess that I walk in agape love and therefore, I am a giver. I purpose to see areas that I can bless others. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
